Eight kilos of suspected ganja found at Glasgow Housing Scheme

The suspected marijuana

Police in Regional Division Six are investigating the discovery of more than eight kilogrammes of suspected cannabis during an operation at Glasgow Housing Scheme, East Bank Berbice, on Tuesday afternoon.

According to a police press release, ranks conducting an exercise in the area at about 3.30 pm observed two identifiable men behaving suspiciously in a yard. The men reportedly fled on foot after noticing the police and escaped.

Acting on information received, the ranks searched a building in the yard from which the men had fled. During the search, they found a black garbage bag containing four bulky parcels wrapped in transparent plastic, along with another black plastic bag containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.

Police said a green suitcase found in the building contained two additional parcels wrapped in transparent plastic and filled with leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.

The suspected narcotics were taken to the Central Police Station, where they were weighed and amounted to 8.350 kilogrammes before being lodged.

No arrest has been made and investigations are continuing.
