A motorcyclist who died following a two-vehicle collision on Saturday along the Reliance Public Road, Essequibo Coast, has been identified as 45-year-old Satesh Persaud, also known as `Tony’.
Speaking with Kiskadee Watch, a relative of Persaud said the family is still trying to understand the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident and has not yet received full clarity from authorities.
“We don’t know much about what went on the road. We have to go back to the station Monday morning. We understand that the guy was in custody; we don’t think it’s true. The vehicle was at the station, but that was not true there is a video it was moved and is now at the residence of the person who caused the accident,” the relative said.
The family also said they are receiving conflicting information about who was involved in the crash.
“Until we go to the station Monday morning, we can’t say whether the guy was in custody. We don’t know anything. At one point we hearing a girl was driving; we don’t really know who was the person,” the relative added.
The family said they will be visiting the police station on Monday morning as they continue seeking answers about the incident.
As a result of the impact, Persaud, of Reliance, was flung several feet into the air and landed on the roadway with severe head and bodily injuries. He was transported to the Lima Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.
Investigations into the fatal collision are ongoing.
