Camptown Football Club secured their maiden place in the Guyana Football Federation’s Elite League tonight after beating Timehri United FC 2-0 in the final of the 2026/2027 Elite League Playoffs at the National Training Centre, Providence.
The Georgetown-based club qualified directly for the country’s highest tier of club football competition with goals on either side of halftime, while Timehri United will have another chance to book their place when they face ninth-place Elite League finishers Fruta Conquerors FC at a later date.
According to the Guyana Football Federation’s gate count, more than 400 spectators were on hand to witness Camptown’s historic qualification.

Shane Jones gave Camptown the ideal start when he opened the scoring in the 10th minute. Timehri managed to keep the deficit at one goal for the remainder of the first half, but Camptown continued to hold control and protect their lead after the break.

Ozeal Small then sealed the result in the 73rd minute, giving Camptown a two-goal cushion as their defence held firm for the rest of the contest. The final whistle sparked celebrations from the Camptown players, staff and supporters as the club confirmed its long-awaited entry into the Elite League.
Camptown previously competed in the old GFF National/Super League, but since the introduction of the Elite League, they had never qualified for the top division.
Committee member and former Camptown FC president Troy Mendonca told Kiskadee Watch Sport the achievement was a proud moment for the club.
The club is “excited and happy to be in the Elite League, which is the top league in the country. We understand that it is hard work, and so we have been preparing for this, for a while now,” Mendonca said.
Camptown’s promotion marks an important step for the Georgetown club, while Timehri United will now turn their attention to the playoff against Fruta Conquerors as they seek the final available spot in the 2026/2027 Elite League.
