26/27 Elite League Playoffs: Beavers move closer to Elite League with win over Queenstown

Ezam David, Darius Stephen and Liangel Machin were all on target for Beavers in their 3-0 win.

Beavers FC moved one step closer to securing a place in the 2026/2027 Guyana Football Federation Elite League after defeating Queenstown United FC 3-0 in the qualification playoffs at the National Training Centre, Providence.

The victory earned Beavers a place in the next round of the playoffs, where they will face Timehri United on Wednesday at 8:30pm. In the other playoff fixture, Camptown will take on Potaro Strikers from 6:30pm.

The winners of those two matches will advance to the playoff final. The team that wins the final will qualify directly for the 2026/2027 Elite League season, while the losing finalist will have another opportunity to earn promotion through a playoff against Fruta Conquerors, who finished ninth in the previous Elite League campaign.

Mainstay Goldstars FC, who finished at the bottom of the Elite League table, were relegated.

Beavers took the lead in the 39th minute through Ezam David, who gave his side the advantage before halftime in front of the gathering of spectators. However, despite their early breakthrough, Beavers were made to work for the result as Queenstown United stayed in the contest for much of the match.

The game was only put beyond Queenstown late in the second half when Beavers found two goals in quick succession. Darius Stephen doubled the lead in the 85th minute before Liangel Machin sealed the win three minutes later.

The late goals capped off a strong performance from Beavers, who controlled key periods of the contest but had to wait until the closing stages to confirm their place in the next round.
