Defending champion Patanjilee Persaud will carry a narrow lead into the National Top Flight Golf League (NTFGL) Tour #2 final on Sunday, September 6, at the Lusignan Golf Course.
Persaud sits at the top of the standings with 19 points, but faces strong competition from Maxim Mangra and Anand Persaud, who are tied for second on 18 points. Joseph Szeplaki is also firmly in contention with 17 points.
With just two points separating the leading four golfers, the Promotech and Danny’s Auto Sales-sponsored final is expected to produce a close battle for the championship. The main contenders are also expected to compete together in the marquee group.
Persaud, the inaugural NTFGL champion, made a slow start to his title defence before finding his best form during the closing rounds of the competition.
The two-time Suriname Open winner collected seven points in Round Six and followed that performance with a net score of 65 in Round Seven to secure the maximum 10 points.
His Round Seven victory came after Rohan Albert produced an impressive net 66, which included a net 31 on the front nine. Persaud responded strongly with a net 31 on the back nine to finish one stroke ahead.
Those two performances earned Persaud 17 points across consecutive rounds and lifted him into the overall lead ahead of the finale.
However, with Mangra, Anand Persaud and Szeplaki all within striking distance, Persaud will need another strong showing to secure his second consecutive NTFGL title.
The championship final is free and open to members of the public.
