Tim Seifert will return to the Saint Lucia Kings for the 2026 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League, as the franchise confirmed its overseas roster ahead of the new season.
The New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter is among five overseas players announced by the Kings yesterday. He will be joined by Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad, Sri Lankan pair Maheesh Theekshana and Charith Asalanka, and USA fast bowler Shadley van Schalkwyk.
Seifert’s return gives the Kings a familiar and dangerous option at the top of the order. The New Zealander has built a strong connection with the franchise and is regarded as one of the more destructive wicketkeeper-batters in the CPL. His ability to bat in different positions also gives the Kings flexibility in their batting line-up.
The Kings’ overseas selections show a clear focus on balance, with the squad strengthened in spin, pace and batting depth. The franchise has retained an explosive top-order presence while adding options capable of contributing in different phases of a T20 match.
Noor Ahmad will also return to the Kings and is expected to play an important role in the middle overs. The Afghan wrist-spinner has become one of the most in-demand white-ball spinners in franchise cricket and is known for taking wickets at important moments.
Theekshana adds another strong spin option to the squad. The Sri Lankan off-spinner brings control, variations and experience, with the ability to bowl in the powerplay and at the death.
Asalanka gives the Kings further depth in the batting department. The Sri Lankan left-hander brings experience and leadership qualities, while offering the option to anchor an innings or accelerate in the closing stages.
Van Schalkwyk completes the overseas group and adds pace and bounce to the Kings’ bowling attack. The USA quick is expected to provide another option with the new ball and in the death overs.
The Saint Lucia Kings will head into the 2026 CPL season with an overseas group built around experience, variety and T20-specific skills.
