Matthew Forde, Amir Jangoo and Mandy Mangru have earned their first West Indies international retainer contracts, while John Campbell has returned to the list for the first time since 2019. Cricket West Indies (CWI) announced the contracts for the 2026–27 season yesterday.
CWI awarded senior retainers to 15 men and 15 women, along with three men’s development contracts. All agreements run from October 1, 2026, to September 30, 2027. Men’s white-ball captain Shai Hope, Test captain Roston Chase and women’s captain Hayley Matthews remain among the contracted players.
CWI Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe identified February’s ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier as the first major assignment for the men. For the women, December’s ODI series against Pakistan offers a chance to secure automatic qualification for the next ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. Interim head coach Andre Coley will lead the women’s team for that series.
Campbell earned his way back onto the contract list after scoring his maiden Test century, 115 against India in Delhi, during the 2025–26 season. He also returned to the ODI side after six years and marked his comeback with 101 off 68 balls against India in Guwahati in September.
Forde led all West Indies bowlers for powerplay wickets in both white-ball formats over the past year. The seamer took 10 in T20 Internationals and six in ODIs. Jangoo, a wicketkeeper-batter, scored 233 against Sri Lanka in Antigua in June and shared a 401-run partnership with Chase, setting a Test world record for the sixth wicket.
Mangru was part of the West Indies squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Her first retainer comes as Deandra Dottin and Chinelle Henry enter the final year of their two-year contracts. On the men’s side, Keacy Carty, Chase, Justin Greaves and Jomel Warrican also enter the final year of two-year deals.
Jewel Andrew, Ackeem Auguste and Vitel Lawes received development contracts. All three have already represented the West Indies, while Auguste and Lawes received their first international contracts. Bascombe said the agreements allow CWI to work more closely with the players as they continue to compete for places in the team.
Players without international contracts remain eligible for selection across all West Indies teams. CWI will announce the 2026–27 Men’s Academy cohort and the regional women’s contracts separately.
