Abumchi Opara scored twice as Guyana Defence Force (GDF) crushed Fruta Conquerors 7–0, while Guyana Police Force defeated Anns Grove United 3–1 in the GFF Elite League Season Eight at the GFF National Training Centre, Providence, yesterday.

GDF scored five times after the interval against a Fruta side reduced to ten players early in the second half. Police built their victory on two early goals before substitute Makayah Jervis struck shortly after the restart to secure their two-goal winning margin.

Stephen Mc Donald opened GDF’s account in the 13th minute, and Ian Dooker made it 2–0 in the 34th to give the soldiers a comfortable halftime advantage.

Fruta’s task grew harder when Jamal Codrington was sent off in the 47th minute. Opara then scored in the 52nd and 59th minutes, taking GDF’s lead to four.

Three late goals completed the rout. Colin Nelson found the net in the 85th minute, Quancy Fraser followed in the 89th, and Mark Phillips added the seventh in the first minute of stoppage time.

In the other encounter, Police took the lead through Dorwin George in the third minute before Beveney McGarrell doubled their advantage in the 16th.

Anns Grove answered a minute later through Maurice Adams, cutting the deficit to 2–1 and keeping the contest close heading into halftime.

Jervis made an immediate contribution after coming on for the second half, scoring in the 46th minute to put Police 3–1 ahead.

Anns Grove finished with ten players after Clive Andries received a red card in the 86th minute. Police held their advantage to collect all three points.
