-ground to be broken on ISIKA community next year
Lauding the Tiger Bay community where its based and its loyal customers, Mings Products and Services (MPS) is observing its 35th anniversary today and is preparing to roll out its ISIKA community at Parika next year.
In a statement, MPS said it began in 1990 as a three-person company led by Stanley and Dr. Michele Ming, in space rented on Urquhart Street from June Mendes of Farfan and Mendes. From the very inception, the statement said that the Ming family understood that MPS’s success would depend on the upliftment of the Tiger Bay community and on providing genuinely high-quality services and products to its customers.
“Today, thirty-five years and generations later, we remain deeply indebted to our staff, our countrywide customers, and the Tiger Bay community for everything they have shared with us”, MPS said.
It said that Tiger Bay has been a reliable force behind the success of MPS.
“We graciously thank the leaders and families of Tiger Bay for partnering with the company since its establishment. Tiger Bay has provided MPS with a safe environment, to work in and has shown us what a community can become, when someone believes in it. We are happy that MPS was able to provide health
insurance for all the children of Tiger Bay, at the time, and help them with extra classes in computer science, etc, in partnership with School of the Nations”, the company said.
MPS also paid special tribute to its staff, some of whom have spent their entire working lives with the company.

The company has sixty-six staff members. The statement honoured the memory of its Technical Director, Colin Ming, who, it said after his years of service to MPS, died tragically due to a
reckless ambulance driver.
MPS says it has thrived for 35 years because thousands of customers, across all ten regions of Guyana, have repeatedly trusted it with their patronage.
“Rather than simply reselling, MPS researched, tested and imported unique, world-renowned products from manufacturers in the USA, Canada, Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand and
India. Over the last five years, MPS has explored joint ventures in production and processing, renewable energy, and commercial-scale construction, thus ensuring that the company continues to meet the evolving needs of our customers”, MPS said.
MPS says it has marketed and sold the Yamaha brand of outboard engines, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, generators, water pumps, fiberglass boats, water vehicles and musical instruments, all backed by after-sales service.
MPS said that the anniversary also marks a new chapter of leadership.
MPS’s future, it said, is now led by Calvin Ming as Chairman, John Chin as CEO, supported by Directors Audrey Ford,
Samuel Ming, Michele & Stanley Ming.
“This team is already working to expand the MPS products and services portfolio, with further announcements to come. What is certain is that the family values that built this company, will underpin its future, our customers as family, our community as family, and our staff as family.
