…as champions Slingerz stay strong
The Guyana Defence Force gathered four goals from second-half substitutes in a dominant 6–0 win over Den Amstel as the GFF Elite League continued with two decisive results at the National Training Centre, Providence.
Defending champions Slingerz also maintained their strong start to the campaign by defeating 10-man Santos 3–0 in the later fixture.

GDF established control almost immediately against Den Amstel, with Shakeem Welcome scoring after only two minutes. Ian Dooker struck in the 23rd minute to give the soldiers a 2–0 advantage at halftime.
Head coach Joseph Wilson introduced Abumchi Opara for Shaquan Joseph at the beginning of the second half, and the change quickly produced another goal. Opara found the net in the 58th minute to widen GDF’s advantage.

Two more substitutes then joined the scoring. Jayden Harris replaced Quaency Fraser in the 62nd minute and scored eight minutes later, while Seon Cato, on for Shamar Scott, converted in the 80th minute.
Opara then added his second goal in the 90th minute to complete the rout.
Den Amstel made two changes at halftime, bringing on Leodan De La Cruz for Jonathan Conyers and Quasi Domingo for Kevin Abrams.
Keon Grant later replaced Paul Payne, Ruel Austin came on for Johenni Gomez and Robinho Abrams entered for Nelson Jaime.
Slingerz cruise
Slingerz followed with another controlled performance against Santos. Neron Barrow opened the scoring in the 26th minute and Kelsey Benjamin doubled the lead in the 37th.
Santos made two halftime changes, introducing Jobe Caesar for Caldwell Peters and Ravin Naughton for Candel Hazel, but their comeback hopes suffered a major setback when Lindy Gardner was dismissed in the 64th minute after receiving a second yellow card.
Slingerz capitalised on their numerical advantage when Yusifu Kargbo, a 70th-minute replacement for Kvist Paul, scored in the 83rd minute to complete the 3–0 victory.
The league continues next Saturday at the same venue with another double-header.
