Frank Tucker completed his first appearance at the World Masters Championships with eight medals, adding four silvers in the equipped competition on Thursday to the four medals he had already won in the classic format.

The 74-year-old’s performance helped Guyana finish the 2026 International Powerlifting Federation championships in Reno, Nevada, USA with seven silver and three bronze medals.

Tucker competed in the 93kg Masters 4 category, earning silver in each equipped lift and the overall total. His 115kg squat, 80kg bench press and 145kg deadlift combined for a total of 340kg, with American William Clayton taking all four gold medals.

The result followed Tucker’s three silvers and one bronze in the classic competition on October 15. He matched his classic squat and bench press marks in the equipped event, although his deadlift was down from 157.5kg.

Fellow Guyanese lifter Naranjan Singh also reached the podium, winning two bronze medals just two days after his 83rd birthday.

The USA-based competitor faced an early setback in the 83kg Masters 4 division when referees rejected all three squat attempts for insufficient depth. He returned to register a best bench press of 70kg and a 110kg deadlift, earning bronze in both disciplines.

Those six medals from Tucker and Singh completed Guyana’s 10-medal campaign.

Gordon Spencer, competing in the 93kg Masters 3 category, finished fifth in a field of five. He totalled 392.5kg through a 150kg squat, an 85kg bench press and a 157.5kg deadlift. Roger Rogers was the other member of Guyana’s competing team.

Guyana Amateur Powerlifting Federation President Franklin Wilson praised the team and coach Kerma Singh, pointing to the veteran athletes’ achievements as evidence that age need not limit ambition. He also highlighted their dedication as an example for younger lifters.

With the international campaign complete, the federation will prepare for its flagship local event, the Senior National Championships, on November 29. A venue is yet to be confirmed.
