President Irfaan Ali today received the letters of credence from Panama’s first resident ambassador here.
In a statement, Ali said “I was pleased to receive the Letters of Credence from Panama’s first resident Ambassador to Guyana, Ernesto Francisco Méndez Chiari.
“His appointment and the establishment of a permanent diplomatic mission here mark a significant milestone in our growing bilateral relations.
“This builds on my meeting in February with President José Raúl Mulino Quintero, during which we discussed cooperation in oil and gas, logistics, agriculture, climate action and security, while expanding private-sector partnerships, connectivity and energy integration”.
He added that Panama’s acceptance of Guyana’s invitation to become a founding member of the Global Biodiversity Alliance further reflects a shared commitment to sustainable development.
Panama’s decision to have a resident ambassador here underscores the growing interest in this country among Latin American states.
