Minister of Natural Resources,  Vickram Bharrat, is leading a delegation in Suriname for the 6th edition of the Suriname Energy, Oil & Gas Summit (SEOGS 2026) being held in Paramaribo, Suriname from 23rd-26th June 2026.

A release from his office said that  Bharrat, earlier yesterday, participated in a Ministerial Plenary with his counterparts from Suriname, Trinidad, the Dominican Republic, Ghana and a representative from the US Department of State.

The Plenary’s topic of discussion was “Energy as a driver of national transformation” with emphasis on hydrocarbon revenues and how it is used to build roads, bridges, and infrastructure.  Bharrat also discussed the use of these resources to invest in biodiversity protection and a low-carbon future for Guyana.

Also joining the Minister during SEOGS 2026 are Senior Petroleum Coordinator of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Bobby Gossai and Director of the Local Content Secretariat, Michael Munroe.
