Vendor caught throwing suspected cannabis over fence – police

The suspected cannabis

Police have arrested a 47-year-old vendor after allegedly finding 30 grammes of suspected cannabis during an intelligence-led operation at Castello Housing Scheme, Georgetown, on Friday.

According to a police statement, ranks acting on information went to a property in the area at approximately 3:45 p.m., where they allegedly observed the man throwing a bulky black plastic bag over a fence.

Police said the bag was retrieved and searched in the suspect’s presence. It allegedly contained a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.

The man was taken to the East La Penitence Police Station along with the suspected cannabis, which police said was weighed in his presence.

The suspected cannabis was lodged, while the man remains in police custody.
