The Guyana School of Agriculture (GSA) recently hosted its Annual Final Year Agro-Processing Exhibition, where students showcased a range of value-added products developed from locally available agricultural resources.
In a statement on its Facebook page, the institution said the exhibition provided students with an opportunity to apply their knowledge in food science, technology and agribusiness management while demonstrating creativity, innovation and technical expertise.
According to the GSA, the projects reflected not only innovation and entrepreneurship but also the practical skills needed to support the growth and diversification of Guyana’s agricultural sector.
The exhibition also highlighted opportunities within the country’s expanding agro-processing industry and underscored the importance of value addition in enhancing food security, reducing post-harvest losses, creating employment and supporting sustainable economic development.
Through research, product development and business planning, the students demonstrated how agricultural products can be transformed into commercially viable enterprises, the institution said.
