Net Rockers take control as Riyaast shines in GFF Under-13 playoffs

L-R: Shaquan Anderson and Abraham Riyaast scored for Netrockers FC against Vortex Vipers.

Net Rockers FC strengthened their position in Group D of the GFF Boys’ Under-13 National Playoffs after recording two wins at the Uitvlugt Ground yesterday.

Abraham Riyaast was the standout player, scoring a brace in a 3-0 victory over Vortex Vipers before netting the winner in a narrow 1-0 triumph over Wales FC.

Net Rockers wasted little time against Vortex Vipers, with Shaquan Anderson scoring in the third minute. Riyaast then took over late in the contest, striking in the 57th and 59th minutes to seal the three-goal win.

The young forward continued his impressive form in Net Rockers’ second match, scoring the lone goal against Wales to complete a perfect day for his team.

Group B also produced a closely contested encounter as Belle West FC and Dartmouth FC battled to a 1-1 draw.

Belle West went ahead through Esteban Sandy in the 41st minute, but Dartmouth secured a share of the points when Madeia Fordyce equalised in the 52nd.

Attention will now shift to Thursday’s next round, which will feature five matches.

Dartmouth and Plaisance FC will meet at 11:00hrs in Essequibo, while Vortex Vipers will look to rebound when they face Wales at 13:30hrs at the same venue.

Net Rockers will return to action against Potaro FC at 11:00hrs at Bayrock. YMCA and Kuru Kururu FC will follow at 13:30hrs, while Cougars FC and Beacon FC will contest the final scheduled match at 15:00hrs in Berbice.
