The Kaieteur Attack Racing Cycle Club (KARCC) is preparing to stage another edition of its flagship Fireworks cycling event after confirming October 25 as the date for this year’s race.
KARCC revealed the date on Monday, setting the stage for the return of an event that has attracted some of Guyana’s leading cyclists along with regional competitors in recent years.
The announcement follows a successful Fireworks 4 in 2025, when close to 50 cyclists competed at the Kingston Seawall circuit in Georgetown.
That edition featured riders from Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados, with Briton John emerging victorious in the headline Senior contest.
John prevailed after a competitive 25-lap battle, finishing ahead of Trinidadian riders Jadian Neaves and Liam Trepte. Barbados’ Dominic Howard also featured among the leading finishers.
KARCC’s Ajani Cutting gave the host club another reason to celebrate after taking top honours in the Junior category ahead of Alex Newton and Alexander Leung.
Fireworks has also developed into more than just a race for the club. The 2025 event incorporated Breast Cancer Awareness activities while paying tribute to several late cyclists and administrators who contributed to the sport locally.
The programme included racing for Senior, Junior, Masters, Category Four and BMX competitors, helping to create one of the more diverse cycling events on the domestic calendar.
Last year’s sizeable turnout and regional participation strengthened Fireworks’ reputation as KARCC’s premier event and provided local cyclists with valuable competition against overseas riders.
Further information on the 2026 edition, including race categories, registration, route details and prizes, is expected to be announced by KARCC ahead of the October 25 event.
