Trans Guyana aircraft runs off Mabaruma airstrip

The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has dispatched an accident investigation team to Mabaruma, Region One, after a Trans Guyana Airways aircraft ran off the runway this morning.

The authority said the incident involved a Cessna Caravan registered as 8R-GCC and occurred at approximately 8.15 am.

There were no reported injuries.

The aircraft reportedly sustained some damage after leaving the runway. The number of passengers and crew aboard was not disclosed.

The GCAA said its team would conduct a thorough assessment of the incident.

Members of the Guyana Police Force, Guyana Defence Force and Guyana Fire Service responded. The Fire Service’s presence was described as a precautionary measure.
