Four die after Linden smash-up

Four persons, one female and three males, have died following a collision involving a motorcar and a heavy-duty fuel truck along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway near Long Creek last night.

Three of the deceased have been identified as Tevin Thompson, Ian Jarvis and Egbert Blair. The identity of the female victim has not yet been confirmed.

Preliminary information indicates that the motorcar was carrying seven occupants when it collided with the rear of the fuel truck.

The vehicle was reportedly travelling at a high rate of speed at the time of the collision. The impact left the motorcar mangled, with four of its occupants reportedly dying at the scene.

Ranks of the Guyana Police Force and firefighters from the Guyana Fire Service were at the scene as emergency personnel responded to the incident.

There has been no statement from the police thus far.
