Letters To The Editor

It is now expected gov’t will maintain these parapets and drains

Dear Editor,

It is great news to hear that the government has reclaimed and restored its status as owners of the parapets in front of our homes. In the past, homeowners have had to take care of weeding these areas and the installation of timber shoring or u-shaped culverts for the trenches and gutters providing drainage in front of the homes. Now that the government has rightfully reasserted its authority and responsibility over the area beyond the property line of homeowners the expectation of the public is that the government will also properly maintain these areas and the associated drainage system.

An overdue change in responsibility that should now be addressed by weeding carried out every two weeks, the completion of needed drainage work (shoring and culverts), and the quarterly cleaning of the drainage system to prevent stagnant water, mosquitoes and flooding due to clogged drainage.

CRG welcomes the government’s enthusiasm to retake control over its responsibilities and looks forward to seeing the long overdue progress towards improving the management and maintenance of our communities.

Best regards,

Mr. Jamil Changlee
