Book A Ride celebrating fourth anniversary,  says over 174,000 trips completed

Ken Deocharran

Book A Ride is celebrating its fourth anniversary and says that over 174,000 rides have been completed and it now supports more than 100 active drivers.

Founded in 2022 by CEO Ken Deocharran after experiencing the frustrations of inconsistent transportation services, a release from the company said that Book A Ride has grown from a simple ride hailing app into a complete mobility platform.

Over the past four years, the release said that the company has connected more than 21,000 registered users, facilitated over 174,000 completed rides, and logged more than 21 million miles throughout the country.

“Four years ago, we set out to solve a transportation problem,” said Founder and CEO Ken Deocharran. “Today, we’re proud that Book A Ride has become much more than an app. We’ve built a platform that creates opportunities, supports local businesses, and gives people confidence that reliable transportation is always within reach.”

The release said that the company has also built a suite of business focused offerings for organisations that need dependable transportation at scale.

Through its Corporate Transportation Solutions, businesses can manage employee transportation through a dedicated corporate portal, giving Human Resources and operations teams visibility over staff pickups, drop offs, and reporting. For organisations with higher volume or more specialised needs, the release said that Book A Ride also offers dedicated transportation services, with assigned vehicles and drivers for recurring routes and shift schedules, giving companies the reliability of an in-house fleet without the overhead of managing one.

The company said that each driver has gone through a thorough vetting process, along with training in defensive driving and basic first aid. Occupational health and safety standards are also built into the company’s day to day operations, from vehicle checks to driver conduct and incident reporting.

The company says its impact extends beyond technology. “Book A Ride now supports more than 100 active drivers, creating flexible earning opportunities while generating business for mechanics, car washes, tyre suppliers, fuel stations, and other local service providers that form part of Guyana’s transportation ecosystem”.

Since its launching, the company has continued introducing new services for the Guyanese market, expanding from ride hailing into Corporate Transportation Solutions and dedicated fleet services, Book A Butler for shopping and delivery, and Book Advertise, giving businesses the opportunity to promote their brands through Book A Ride’s network of vehicles and app users.

Book A Ride says it is planning a series of activities throughout August to mark the anniversary and thank its customers, drivers, and partners, with further details to be announced.

“Our journey over the last four years proves that local innovation can solve real problems, create meaningful employment, and build businesses that people trust,” said Deocharran.
