GCCI raises concerns about Chinese suppliers with embassy

Pursuant to concerns raised by some members regarding challenges with obtaining goods purchased from suppliers in China, President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Kathy Smith, and Senior Vice President, Gavin Ramsoondar met Li Hanqing, Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy on Friday.

The meeting was organised by the GCCI to deal with pressing concerns as it essential that Guyanese companies are assured of the credibility of businesses they engage given the trade increase between Guyana and China. A release from GCCI said that the meeting addressed issues related to challenges in communication with suppliers following payment, and incorrect products delivered.

The partners discussed providing Guyanese businesses with a list of legitimate suppliers and platforms, and the support of the Chinese Embassy in investigating and addressing the complaints raised by the Chamber.
