Opposition Leader spends 2nd night in custody

Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed

Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed remains in police custody following his arrest in connection with allegations that he paid Police Constable Ryan Greene to obtain CCTV footage relating to an October 12 shooting incident.

Kiskadee Watch understands that he has not been formally charged with any offence arising from this latest arrest. Mohamed was taken into custody on Wednesday.

The footage concerns the October 12 shooting incident in Kitty, Georgetown involving Head of Special Branch, Senior Superintendent Prem Narine. At a recent press conference, Mohamed showed reporters footage from several angles and gave a detailed account of his version of the incident.

The Guyana Police Force has remained silent on whether charges will be forthcoming in connection with the alleged payment by Mohamed for obtaining the footage.

Mohamed was also arrested on October 12 and kept in custody for several days.
