Enmore incident hearses

Dear Editor,

Sometime ago Elder Hamilton Green penned that he witnessed the Enmore Incident funeral procession at D’Urban Park as they stopped briefly. His comment was that he saw C.B.Jagan make a speech also Jane Philips-Gay. The part I am interested in is this, the Elder said he saw five hearses transporting the deceased.

I am preparing a movie script of the incident. I cannot find what the hearses looked like. Every account expresses the bodies were transported by hearse. This is in 1948. Elder David Granger wrote a piece on hearses in Georgetown of that period- the carriages were horse drawn.

It would be appreciated if the Elder could verify what the hearses looked like. My contact: [email protected]

Also, Sydney King appears in the procession. Perhaps he could verify.

I would like the script to be as authentic as possible.
