Letters To The Editor

Guyanese need to rekindle that special love

Dear Editor,

I am certain that every Guyanese has a common love for Guyana whether you are at home or abroad. Guyana would also be home and for this reason too I am even more convinced that every Guyanese would like to see Guyana  being a successful country.

Editor, I love my country dearly and I believe if Guyana is shown love and if Guyana has right thinking politicians who are prepared to focus on Guyana’s growth and not self, Guyana would emerge into the beauty we all want her to be.

Editor, they are more Guyanese living abroad than those that are living in Guyana. This stat should be one of concern but who cares because at the end of the day the government has no control of the movement of people.

Editor, what the government can attempt to do is to create opportunities and start making substantive provisions to attract Guyanese living abroad to return back home to live a comfortable and happy life with their family and loved ones.

Guyanese had to make the decision to migrate to another country not because they don’t like their own country but instead in most cases they wanted a better life for themselves and family. Many however would have realized that the grass is not that greener on the other side but because they have prepared to work hard and to create a new and better life for themselves and family they have prepared to stick it out come what may.

Editor, I  want to see Guyana developed into a place of natural beauty. We already know that Guyana is beautiful but enhancing her beauty for the world to see should be a work in continuous progress. We all need to clamour in making an effort to keep Guyana clean. Many have tried before and still there is work to do to enhance and maintain Guyana’s cleanliness. Being our neighbour’s keeper should be revisited and act upon.  Being respectful one to another should also become a norm. Editor, Guyana needs to rekindle that special love, that bond we used to share, that care and concern we all shared. Guyanese let us make an effort to resurrect that love we once shared and  cared for as Guyanese. Guyanese let us love our brothers and sisters. Let us stop being selfish. Peace and love Guyana may God forgive you and let his light penetrate through you so others may see.

Yours sincerely,

Yannason Duncan
