Letters To The Editor

Watch on Kiskadee Watch, watch on

Dear Editor,

A new dawn arrives on Guyana’s media landscape.  Kiskadee Watch is on the job.  Probing and reporting to citizens.  Fairly and independently.  On this first day of the Kiskadee Watch on the phones and laptops of Guyanese, let its quality inspire.  Let it motivate ideas for what serves all Guyanese, lead to a better Guyana.  Its strength comes from the Guyanese people.  Its politics is simple: everyone gets covered, every patriotic voice heard.

I am privileged to have had a small hand in its presence.  It is now here: the news and views straight up without fear or favour.  Without owing anyone, without being owned by any, beside the power of the people.  Service to the people for the people, with a paper whose strength comes from a freedom loving, a free press loving, constituency.  Who can be against?  Who would not be for Kiskadee Watch?  What is dedicated to making government and leaders better, holding all politicians accountable, keeping Guyanese at home and the many abroad informed?

Friends are welcome.  But not the kind that intrudes, tend to interfere.  Fellow Guyanese, well-wishers, and passing strangers, are all encouraged to take the fullest advantage and be educated on the issues and people in this country.  The people sharing their fears about cost-of-living.  Those who want trustworthy leadership.  Those who long for truth and openness and liberties that are bosom companions of an Independent nation, and of democracy at its best.  Those who wish not to live in fear or darkness.

May this new day, with this new vision, be the inauguration of a new era in Guyana media.  A powerful man in this country said the way forward is digitalization.  Hence, when the announcement came of the exit of Stabroek News, I said in its closing pages, post Friday the 13th, that digital is what it must be.  So, now, there is Kiskadee Watch.  Listen Guyanese.  Appreciate the beauty and profoundness of its sounds, its pages, its presence.  It’s the trilling of liberty’s bell.  May it be that yearned-for, breakout, presence, that lifts from the normal to the extraordinary.

Watch on, Kiskadee.  See Guyana’s children at work, at play, in deep thought.  In the visions of their sleep of how grand this country can be.  Considering all that it has in its hands, all its freedom loving sons and daughters.  Watch on Kiskadee Watch, watch on.  Let the people read all about their times, their developments that mean so much.

Yours faithfully,

GHK Lall
