Ricardo Danesar followed his match-winning semi-final contribution with an unbeaten half-century as West Side Secondary defeated Bush Lot Secondary to claim the Zone 7 title in the 2026 Beharry Under-19 Schools T20 Cricket Tournament on Sunday.

Danesar struck an unbeaten 54 from just over 30 balls as West Side raced to 82 for one inside 11 overs in the final at the Cotton Tree Ground in Berbice. Davendra Samaroo supported him with an unbeaten 17 as West Side completed the chase with almost their entire batting order intact.

The match was reduced from 20 overs to 15 because of the weather. Bush Lot, who batted first, were limited to 77 for nine despite Matthew Sugrim’s 27.

Romel Sukhnandan took two wickets for three runs, Kishan Ramroop captured two for four and Ricardo Laurie finished with two for 13 to place West Side in control.

West Side and Bush Lot reached the championship match after registering comfortable victories in the two semi-finals, which formed part of the day’s triple-header at Cotton Tree.

Bush Lot booked their place with a 61-run win against Rosignol Secondary. They were held to 91 for seven from their 15 overs, with Trevon Gladstone leading the batting with 15.

Tairell Paul returned two for 19 and Varinda Lalsa took two for 15 for Rosignol. However, Rosignol’s chase fell apart as they were restricted to 30 for six in the ninth over. None of their batters reached double figures.

Afzal Amir was the leading bowler for Bush Lot, taking five wickets for 11 runs to keep his school in control throughout the match.

In the other semi-final, West Side defeated Woodley Park Secondary by 69 runs. West Side made 115 for seven from 15 overs after choosing to bat, with Danesar scoring 35 from 20 balls and Nathan Karamchand adding 13.

Woodley Park’s Rafeek Ali took three for 12, while Zaheed Khodabux claimed two for 29. Their batting unit was unable to complete the chase, however, and was dismissed for 46 in 10.4 overs.

Mohit Nemdhari made 13 and was the only Woodley Park batter to reach double figures. Laurie took three wickets for seven runs and Sukhnandan collected three for 11 to send West Side into the final, where they completed their unbeaten run through the triple-header.
