Falcons hold nerve to edge Hawks by two wickets in DCB U-13 clash

L-R: Aryan Atkinson (3/13), Aaron Perkins (3/6) and Trevor Burnette (3/3) led the bowling for the Falcons.

The DCB Falcons held their nerve to secure a two-wicket victory over the DCB Hawks in the Demerara Cricket Board Under-13 Tournament at the LBI ground.

Chasing 90 for victory, the Falcons reached 90 for eight in 32 overs after their bowlers had earlier restricted the Hawks to 89 all out in 25.2 overs.

The Falcons’ chase was a challenging one, with the Hawks applying pressure through Caleb Bastain and Rakeeb Latif. Bastain was the standout bowler with four wickets for 11 runs from five overs, including one maiden, while Latif claimed three wickets for nine runs from five overs, with two maidens.

Despite losing eight wickets, the Falcons managed to reach the target, with Vivian Narine contributing nine runs, while Ritesh Deonarine and Anthony Bacchus made eight runs each.

Earlier, the Hawks struggled to build partnerships after batting first. Aayan Persaud top-scored with 13 as the Falcons’ bowlers shared the wickets evenly.

Aryan Atkinson claimed three wickets for 13 runs from three overs, Aaron Perkins took three for six from three overs, while Trevor Burnette produced impressive figures of three wickets for just three runs from his three overs.

Their combined efforts left the Hawks with a modest total to defend, and although Bastain and Latif threatened to turn the match in their team’s favour, the Falcons eventually completed the chase to seal the two-wicket win.
