Shai Hope struck an unbeaten half-century and Mohammad Nabi claimed four wickets as the Guyana Amazon Warriors defeated the Jamaica Kingsmen by six wickets at Sabina Park to begin their Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League campaign in winning fashion.

Hope anchored the Warriors’ chase with a composed 56 not out as the visitors comfortably reached the 118-run target with plenty of deliveries remaining. The victory sent the Warriors to the top of the points table and handed the Kingsmen their third consecutive defeat.

The Warriors suffered an early setback when Mavendra Dindyal was dismissed in the opening over, but Glenn Phillips quickly settled the innings with an assured contribution at the top of the order.

Hope remained patient throughout the chase, waiting for scoring opportunities while keeping the required rate under control. Useful contributions from Nabi and Quentin Simpson helped the Warriors secure the result without any late pressure.

Earlier, the Kingsmen were dismissed for just 117 after being sent in to bat. Their struggles began during the PowerPlay, which ended with the home side on 26 for two after Shahan Jahangir again failed to provide a solid start.

Reeza Hendricks offered the main resistance with 40 but was unable to turn his start into a match-changing innings. Captain Rovman Powell briefly lifted the scoring rate with two sixes in a 17-ball 24, but the Kingsmen continued to lose wickets regularly.

Nabi led the Warriors’ attack with an impressive four for 22, using the conditions effectively during a spin-dominated spell in the middle overs. His wickets prevented the Kingsmen from building any momentum and left them without a platform for a strong finish.

The other Warriors bowlers maintained the pressure around Nabi, ensuring the home side was bowled out for a modest total.

Andre Russell claimed two for 12 for the Kingsmen, but his effort was not enough to stop the Warriors from completing a convincing victory.

Summarised scores: Jamaica Kingsmen 117 all out (Reeza Hendricks 40, Rovman Powell 24; Mohammad Nabi 4-22); Guyana Amazon Warriors 118-4 (Shai Hope 56 not out; Andre Russell 2-12). Warriors won by six wickets.
