The Police Sports Club has joined forces with the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) for its upcoming T10 Franchise Tournament, scheduled for November 22 at the LBI Ground.

Eight teams will compete in the tournament, with more than $1 million in prizes available. The event is intended to showcase emerging talent, encourage community involvement and support the development of grassroots cricket.

DCB Vice-President Puneet Jaigopaul welcomed the Police Sports Club’s participation and thanked the organisation for supporting the initiative.

Jaigopaul said the tournament will provide more than a competitive platform, noting that it is also aimed at developing boys’ and girls’ cricket. He believes the competition will give young players valuable opportunities and exposure.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravindradat Budhram said the Police Sports Club has played an important role in the growth of cricket over the years.

Budhram highlighted Officer Sampson’s participation in the Caribbean Premier League as an example of the club’s contribution to Guyana’s cricket. He added that the Police Sports Club has produced several players who have represented the country at youth and senior levels.

DCB Assistant Secretary Ronald Williams outlined the tournament’s format and said the competition is expected to help raise the standard of local cricket.

The DCB said its partnership with the Police Sports Club reflects a shared commitment to empowering young athletes, strengthening communities and advancing cricket development across Guyana.
