Under-19 players assured a place in starting XIs for DCB T10

Every franchise in the Demerara Cricket Board’s (DCB) upcoming T10 fundraising tournament must field at least one Under-19 player in its starting XI, ensuring young cricketers receive playing opportunities when the eight-team competition takes place at the LBI Ground on November 22.

The eligibility rules also require each 15-player squad to include two Under-19 players and at least 12 cricketers from Demerara. Teams may select no more than three players from outside the county.

The DCB is using the competition to raise funds for cricket development across Demerara while providing a competitive platform for established local players and emerging talent. The inclusion of young players supports the board’s longer-term aim of strengthening the pathway for their development.

Matches are scheduled to start at 10:00h and continue under lights. Admission will cost $1,000.

Preparations have moved forward with Upper East Bank Titans becoming the seventh confirmed franchise, backed jointly by Deokie Service Station of Soesdyke and Naila D Investment of Long Creek.

The Titans join Mae’s Spartan as the second confirmed franchise from the East Bank Demerara Cricket Association.

Premier Insurance, Mike’s Tynor XI, Navin’s Construction Lusignan Bulls, Young Rivals and the Guyana Police Force are also confirmed. The remaining franchise is expected to be announced later this week.

DCB Vice-President Puneet Jaigopaul said partnerships with businesses along the East Bank corridor were important to the continued development of cricket. He thanked the Titans’ sponsors for supporting the board’s franchise initiative and making a direct contribution to the sport.

Representing the two companies, Office Administrator/Supervisor Nalinie Persaud expressed their pleasure at sponsoring a team. She also wished the DCB success with its fundraising efforts to support cricket across Demerara.
