Quinton de Kock will return to the Barbados Tridents for the 2026 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League, as the franchise confirmed its five overseas signings ahead of the new season.
The Tridents, returning to their historic identity under the “One Barbados” partnership, have named South Africa’s de Kock and George Linde, Australians Chris Green and Daniel Sams, and Afghanistan’s Mujeeb ur Rahman as their overseas players for the campaign.
The announcement comes with added significance as Kensington Oval, known as “The Mecca” of West Indies cricket, is set to host this year’s CPL final. The Tridents’ recruitment points to a clear effort to build a balanced squad, combining top-order power, spin control and seam-bowling variety.
De Kock headlines the overseas group and brings proven quality at the top of the order. The South African wicketkeeper-batter is widely regarded as one of white-ball cricket’s most dangerous openers, with his powerplay scoring expected to suit Kensington Oval’s fast outfield and true bounce.
Green also returns to the Tridents and adds further experience to the bowling unit. The Australian off-spinner has built a reputation as one of the more reliable operators in T20 cricket, particularly through the middle overs, while also offering sharp fielding.
Mujeeb gives the Tridents another high-quality spin option. The Afghan spinner is known for his mystery variations and ability to keep scoring rates under control at different stages of an innings. He also adds depth with the bat and was part of the Barbados squad that reached the 2022 CPL final.
Linde adds left-arm spin and lower-order batting to the overseas group. His all-round ability gives the Tridents more flexibility in team selection, especially as they look to cover different match situations and conditions.
Sams completes the overseas roster and also returns to the franchise. The Australian left-arm seamer brings variety with the ball and can be used in key phases, including the death overs. He also offers power-hitting ability, making him a useful option in the middle and lower order.
The overseas signings will join a West Indian core led by Gudakesh Motie, Brandon King and Sherfane Rutherford. With that combination, the Tridents will be aiming to mount a strong challenge and push for another successful CPL campaign under their restored banner.
