The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has shortlisted 31 players for developmental and assessment sessions following the conclusion of the Under-13 Inter-County Tournament, which was won by Berbice.
The players were selected based on their performances during the competition and will now take part in structured training, skills-development exercises and practice matches.
The sessions will give the young cricketers additional opportunities to demonstrate their ability and readiness for national duties. A final Guyana Under-13 squad will be chosen at the end of the assessment programme.
The shortlisted players are Xavier Dodson, Aryan Persaud, Deonarine Chattergoon, Kaysean Doodnath, Julian Singh, Isaac Hussain, Kishan Bhikham, Vidal Narine, Rakeeb Latif, Austin Peters, Elijah Mohamed, Alden Hope, Caleb Bastian, Thavin Roopnarine and Saif Hussain.
Also selected are Aryan Ali, Kenneth Mahadeo, Yougesh Rammarine, Aiden Moore, Justin Southwell, Aaron Perkins, Huzaifah Shadir, Nitan Manna, Aryan Atkinson, Jovell DeJong, Kayden Springer, Trevon Henry, Lamar Lafleur, Summit Samaroo, Jayden Garner and Lorenzo Webster.
The GCB has urged the players’ clubs, associations and county boards to ensure they remain fit and continue training when they are not involved in official board sessions.
According to the board, regular training, fitness, discipline and a strong work ethic will help improve the players’ individual skills and prepare them to compete for places in the national squad.
The GCB also called on stakeholders to provide the shortlisted players with the necessary guidance, support and training opportunities throughout the selection process.
Meanwhile, the board congratulated Berbice on winning the Inter-County Championship and praised the participating teams, players, coaches, managers, match officials and other stakeholders for helping to stage the tournament successfully.
The Under-13 programme forms part of the GCB’s player-development pathway and gives young cricketers from across Guyana an opportunity to compete, improve and work towards national representation.
