Fisher remanded at Paramakatoi over ammo

A 33-year-old fisherman of Lusignan, East Coast Demerara and Paramakatoi Village, Region #8, was last Friday remanded to prison by Magistrate Omadatt Chandan at the Lethem Magistrate’s Court after being charged with possession of ammunition without a licence.

A release from the Guyana Police Force said that Mathis Jacobis was charged under Section 16(2)(a) of the Firearms Act, Chapter 16:05, in relation to four live 12-gauge cartridges.

He pleaded not guilty and was ordered to return to court on July 2nd 2026.
