The Ministry of Public Works has issued a notice requiring the owner or owners of two vehicles and a trailer abandoned along the Mon Repos Public Road, East Coast Demerara, to remove the items immediately.
One of the vehicles is a truck with a huge tank and a smaller truck with a trailer.
In a notice published on its Facebook page, the ministry warned that failure to comply would result in the vehicle and trailer being removed as part of its ongoing efforts to keep roadways clear and safe.
The ministry also warned owners against relocating abandoned vehicles and equipment from one location to another in an attempt to avoid enforcement action, stating that such items would be seized if removal notices continue to be disregarded.
According to the ministry, owners whose property is removed by authorities will be responsible for all associated costs. It said seized items can only be reclaimed after the outstanding removal expenses have been paid.
The ministry noted that neither it nor the government intends to permanently retain seized property but stressed that enforcement measures would continue against persons who fail to comply with removal notices.
It also thanked members of the public for their cooperation in helping to maintain safe and unobstructed roadways.
