The Telecommunications Agency has invited public comments on four applications for frequency authorisations submitted by businesses and an amateur radio operator seeking to establish private telecommunications networks.

According to notices published in the June 6 Extraordinary Gazette, the applications were made under Sections 30(2) and 25(b) of the Telecommunications Act 2016 and are currently under review by the agency.

Among the applicants is 4TTTT General Supplies and Contracting Services of Plantation Perseverance, East Bank Demerara, which applied on May 13 for authorisation to operate a private telecommunications network. The company is seeking access to channels within the GMRS/FRS frequency band between 462.5500 MHz and 462.7250 MHz for fixed and land mobile communications.

Guyana Grain Farm Inc., of Lot 45 Urquhart Street, Georgetown, submitted an application on May 18 to operate a private telecommunications network using frequencies within the 430 MHz to 440 MHz UHF band. According to the notice, the company proposes to utilise six UHF handheld radios at its Georgetown location for fixed and land mobile communications.

Kale Constructions of Lot 300 Ramsingh Street, B-Field, Sophia, also applied for frequency authorisation on May 22. The company is seeking to utilise channels in the GMRS/FRS band for a private telecommunications network comprising 10 handheld radios to facilitate staff communications.

The agency has also received an application from Steve Tandacharry Senwasane of Lot 22 Vision Garden, Malgre, West Bank Demerara, for authorisation to operate an amateur telecommunications network. The application seeks access to frequencies within the HF, VHF and UHF amateur radio bands for amateur radio communications.

The Telecommunications Agency said the proposed radio communication equipment would be used in connection with the provision of private and amateur communications services as outlined in the respective applications.

Persons who may be affected by any of the applications may submit written comments to the Telecommunications Agency at Lot 190 Charlotte Street, Bourda, Georgetown.

According to the notices, comments must be submitted no later than July 23, 2026.
