Videos tendered in gas station explosion PI

Soraya Bourne

The preliminary inquiry into the October 26, 2025 Regent Street gas station explosion, which claimed the life of young Soraya Bourne and left several others injured, continued on Thursday before Magistrate Faith McGusty, with the court viewing additional video evidence as the prosecution advances its case.

The case arises from the explosion at the Regent Street gas station, which investigators allege was a coordinated attack. Several individuals have been charged in connection with the incident and remain before the courts as the prosecution seeks to establish whether there is sufficient evidence for the matters to proceed to trial.

During Thursday’s proceedings, several videos were tendered into evidence.

The court also viewed a recorded police interview with Jennifer Rodrigues conducted at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters, along with recorded interviews of other persons connected to the investigation.

Additional evidence included a police video interview with Ramesh  Pramdeo, recorded interviews with police detectives involved in the investigation, and footage taken inside a house and what appeared to be a bar.

At the conclusion of the proceedings, the matter was adjourned to July 8 2026.

Providing an update on the progress of the proceedings, Magistrate McGusty said the prosecution is nearing the completion of tendering its documentary evidence.

“We are close to completion of the tendering of the documents. Hopefully, next Wednesday we can complete,” the magistrate said.

The preliminary inquiry is expected to continue on July 8  2026 when the prosecution is anticipated to conclude the tendering of its documentary evidence before the court considers the next stage of the proceedings.
