Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony, on Friday attended a feedback meeting at the Ministry’s Boardroom following the conclusion of the World Health Organization (WHO) validation missions.

A release from the Ministry of Health said that Guyana has officially applied for WHO certification for the Elimination of Mother-to-Child Transmission (EMTCT) of HIV and Syphilis.

Following rigorous virtual assessments (June 1–4) and in-country site visits (June 8–13), the visiting evaluation team presented their findings and recommendations to health officials on Friday.

This validation process measures the strength, equity, and reach of the maternal healthcare system, the release said.
