Police have issued a wanted bulletin for a 40-year-old Eccles, East Bank Demerara man in connection with an alleged $2.61 million obtaining money by false pretence investigation involving fraudulent firearm licence approvals.
The wanted man has been identified as David Singh, whose last known address is Lot 1246 Eccles New Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara.
In a separate release the police said the offence was committed between June 1 and June 15 at Best Plantation, West Coast Demerara, and Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara.
The police said the investigation stems from a report made on Monday by two brothers, aged 35 and 30, a contractor and an operator respectively, both of Best Plantation.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the brothers were allegedly approached by Singh, who reportedly claimed that he could assist them in obtaining firearm licences.
The victims allegedly paid him a total of $2.61 million and later received documents purporting to be approvals for firearm licences. However, the documents were subsequently examined and found to be fraudulent.
Police said efforts are being made to locate Singh as well as another person believed to be connected to the matter.
Anyone with information on Singh’s whereabouts is asked to contact the nearest police station, call 911 or any of the telephone numbers listed in the wanted bulletin.
