China offers support over ferry sinking

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hugh Todd on Monday met with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Guyana, Yang Yang during which the Chinese envoy offered support over the catastrophic sinking of the MV Barima with the loss of dozens of lives.

A release on the Facebook page of the Chinese Embassy said that Ambassador Yang extended her deepest condolences to the families impacted and the people and Government of Guyana and extended an offer of support from the Government of China.

Todd expressed his appreciation for the support offered and provided an update on the search and rescue efforts.
