New $15m Campbelltown Health Centre commissioned

The new health centre

A new health centre valued at approximately $15 million has been commissioned at Campbelltown in Region Eight as part of efforts to expand primary healthcare services in hinterland communities.

According to a Ministry of Health release, Health Minister Dr Frank Anthony participated in the ceremonial ribbon-cutting during a recent visit to Potaro-Siparuni.

The ministry said the facility is equipped to provide primary healthcare services to residents of Campbelltown and surrounding communities.

Anthony also inspected several recently installed facilities at the Mahdia Hospital, including an oxygen generator room valued at approximately $13.985 million. The ministry said the equipment is expected to provide the hospital with a reliable supply of medical oxygen for patients requiring respiratory and emergency care.

He also visited the hospital’s digital X-ray unit, which the ministry valued at approximately $160 million. The unit is expected to improve diagnostic services and allow more patients to be assessed and treated within the region.

Inside the health centre

During the visit, Anthony also commissioned the hospital’s new rehabilitation department, valued at approximately $14 million.

The department will provide services to persons recovering from injuries, illnesses and other conditions requiring rehabilitative care. According to the ministry, its establishment should reduce the need for residents to travel outside Region Eight for such services.

Anthony later toured the hospital and interacted with healthcare workers.
