The Ministry of Natural Resources has launched the Guyana Mining and Exploration Conference and Exhibition (G-MEX), which it says will become an annual international platform for attracting investment to the country’s mineral sector.
According to a ministry statement, G-MEX was launched on Wednesday and is intended to connect Guyana’s mineral potential with investors, technology, expertise and partnerships needed for its development.
The initiative will comprise five components: a conference, exhibition, investor forum, geological showcase and awards ceremony.
The ministry said the platform is expected to increase the international visibility of Guyana’s mineral sector and attract responsible investment and new exploration activities.
It is also expected to create opportunities for local miners, suppliers, contractors and entrepreneurs while introducing the country to new technologies, expertise and international industry practices.
According to the statement, G-MEX will seek to strengthen relations among the government, mining companies, communities, investors and international partners. It is also being promoted as a vehicle for employment, knowledge transfer and skills development.
The ministry said the initiative is intended to position Guyana not only as a country with substantial mineral resources but as one capable of managing, developing and showcasing them responsibly on the international stage.
No date or venue for the inaugural conference and exhibition was included in the statement.
