Two employees of Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed were last evening released on $100,000 station bail each after spending three days in police custody following their rearrest.
Eugene Thorne and Mario Mohamed were among four persons arrested on September 3 in connection with a police investigation into alleged unauthorised and/or suspected drone activity.
The four were initially released on their own recognisance on the night of September 3 but were subsequently rearrested.
Mohamed was again released on his own recognisance, while Thorne and Mario remained in custody for three days before being granted $100,000 station bail each on Sunday evening.
Dwayne Ross remains in police custody and is expected to appear before the Leonora Magistrate’s Court today to answer to a charge.
Upon their release, the cellular phones and other electronic devices seized from Mohamed and the other men were not returned. The devices remain with police analysts who are examining them as part of the ongoing investigation, according to information from Attorney Eusi Anderson.
The development comes as the Facebook page of “Team Mohamed,” which had more than 500,000 followers, has disappeared from the social media platform.
In a letter dated September 4 and addressed to Police Commissioner Clifton Hicken, Anderson demanded the immediate return of Mohamed’s property, including two cellular phones and two motor vehicles.
The lawyer identified the phones as a Samsung Galaxy S26 and an iPhone 16 Pro Max. He also said a Toyota Land Cruiser, registration PAD 4000, registered in the name of Nadia Mohamed, and a Toyota Allion, registration PXX 5300, remained in police custody.
Anderson further stated that several personal items belonging to Mohamed and members of his family were inside one of the vehicles.
The circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the Team Mohamed Facebook page remain unclear.
