The South Dakota Circuit is set to come alive on November 14 and 15 when round two of the Need for Speed Karting Championship brings a wide range of racing classes and more than $17 million in prize money to the traditional motorsport venue.
After the opening round, organisers Jumbo Jet Events are looking to raise the excitement further as drivers move another step closer to the championship’s major cash prizes.
The weekend will begin with qualifying across all categories on Saturday, setting the grid for Sunday’s programme, which is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m.
Among the biggest attractions will be the LO206 Briggs & Stratton Light division, where the winner stands to collect $4 million, equivalent to US$20,000.
The championship also offers $2 million first prizes in several other categories, while winners in the remaining divisions can earn between $1 million and $1.5 million.
A broad field of competitors is expected, with racing scheduled in the LO206 Briggs & Stratton Light, Heavy, Junior and Cadet categories. Honda GX200, IAME 125cc, LO206 Rookie Over-35 and LO206 Female racing are also included, along with Supermoto Senior and Junior competition.
Experienced racers aged 50 and older will have their own spotlight through the Pro Drivers category, which offers its winner $2 million.
Jumbo Jet Events said its team has been working extensively ahead of the second round, with the intention of maintaining the standard of entertainment supporters have come to expect from its events.
Plans have also been discussed with promoters to improve the viewing experience for spectators as the championship moves to South Dakota.
Competitors will also have to follow specific tyre regulations. MG Red tyres will be used in most categories, while the IAME 125cc division will run on MG Yellow tyres.
The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, Jumbo Jet, XCMG and Synotruck are supporting the event.
