International racers confirmed as GMR&SC opens registration for Clash of Champions

The Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) has opened registration for its upcoming Clash of Champions

The Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) has opened registration for its upcoming Clash of Champions, with international competitors already confirmed for the October 31 to November 1 event at the South Dakota Circuit.

The club is expecting racers from across the Caribbean, the United States, the United Kingdom and other parts of Europe for one of its biggest circuit racing events of the year.

GMR&SC President Mohamed Shiraz Roshandin confirmed that Caribbean American Motorsports (CAMS) and competitors from several Caribbean countries have already committed to participating.

He explained that strong competition is expected in Groups Two, Three and Four, with both cars and motorcycles set to feature at the Timehri venue.

Registration opened on Wednesday, October 14, with competitors able to register online or visit the club’s office at the corner of Thomas Lands and Albert Street in Georgetown.

The upcoming event follows the successful staging of the opening round of the National Championships and last weekend’s Berbice Drag Racing Invasion.

According to Roshandin, the club is looking to build on the success of those events as it prepares for its marquee competition.

He said the response from international competitors has been encouraging, particularly with approximately two weeks remaining before the event.

The Clash of Champions is expected to bring together some of the region’s leading drivers and riders for another round of competitive racing at South Dakota.

Admission is set at $5,000 for adults and $2,000 for children.

The event is being supported by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, One Guyana, ENet, KFC, GuyOil and Tropical Shipping, among other partners.

Competitors interested in participating can register through the club’s online registration form or contact the GMR&SC at 231-5457 for further information.
