The Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) on Thursday dismissed an application on behalf of Mikhail Rodrigues, known as ‘Guyanese Critic’ for special leave to appeal a $52m libel judgment in favour of Azruddin Mohamed and his father Nazar Mohamed.
The award was made in the High Court in 2024 and has seen multiple appeals by Rodrigues to stave off the award. Thursday’s decision by the CCJ brings the matter to a close.
The CCJ said it was satisfied that there was no egregious error of law nor risk of a gross injustice arising from the judgment of the Guyana Court of Appeal on April 24, 2026.
The decision was handed down by Justice Denys Barrow, Peter Jamadar and Chile Eboe-Osuji.
