A 36-year-old labourer from No. 51 Village, Corentyne, Berbice, has been charged with 10 offences, including damage to property, assault and resisting and obstructing police ranks.
Withney Harvey called ‘Dow’ was arrested on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, and subsequently charged on Friday, October 23, 2026.
The charges against Harvey include one count of damage to property, two counts each of assault causing actual bodily harm, assaulting a peace officer, resisting a peace officer and obstructing a peace officer, as well as disorderly behaviour.
He appeared before Magistrate Tuanna Hardy at the Whim Magistrate’s Court, where the charges were read to him.
Harvey pleaded not guilty to the damage to property charge and all charges involving a Police Sergeant. However, he pleaded guilty to the charges involving a Police Lance Corporal.
Following his court appearance, Harvey was remanded to prison.
The matter was adjourned to October 28, 2026, when Harvey is expected to return to court for sentencing in relation to the charges to which he pleaded guilty.
