Man, 45, dies in Fyrish house fire

The charred remains of a 45-year-old man were discovered after a fire yesterday destroyed a house at Second Street, Fyrish, Corentyne, Berbice.

The Guyana Fire Service identified the deceased as Thamsingh Rampersaud.

In a statement, the service said firefighters arrived to find the building fully engulfed in flames and began working to bring the blaze under control.

During the response, they were informed that an occupant was unaccounted for. A search of the premises after the fire was extinguished led to the discovery of Rampersaud’s remains.

The service extended condolences to his family and loved ones.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
