Two brand-new secondary schools officially opened their doors in Region Seven yesterday, expanding access to secondary education for students in remote riverine communities.

The release from the Minsitry of Education stated that Karrau Secondary School in Lower Mazaruni is already accommodating students from the community, along with transfers from Three Miles Secondary and Bartica Secondary.

Meanwhile, Issano Secondary School in Middle Mazaruni began operations with an initial cohort of 12 students from Issano and Tassarene Village.

Enrollment at Issano is expected to increase significantly once construction of its dormitory is completed. The facility will accommodate students from Kangaruma, Isseneru and other surrounding riverine communities.
