22 persons with disabilities receiving garment-making training

Participants practising their sewing skills during the garment construction training.

Twenty-two persons with disabilities are participating in an eight-day basic garment construction programme at the Palms Geriatric Home compound, according to the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security.

Minister Vindhya Persaud visited the participants on Tuesday, observing their sewing practice and discussing their progress.

The ministry said the programme provides opportunities for participants to develop skills at their own pace and explore their interests.

It did not specify whether the training would be followed by further instruction, assistance with equipment or support for employment or self-employment.
